How we continuously improve Picqer

Today we’re giving you another behind-the-scenes look. This time: How do we keep improving Picqer, and how do we decide what to change?

Keep improving

Continuously improving Picqer is our top priority. Every day we think about what could be better. With the volume of orders processed through Picqer, saving even one second per order adds up to hours of saved time—every single day.

Keep listening

We take every question, suggestion and bit of feedback from our customers seriously. Every question from a user is a chance for us to learn. That’s why we often ask follow-up questions when we receive feedback: What’s the situation? How often does it happen? How much time would it save if we implemented the suggestion?

We collect all suggestions and group them by topic. This gives us a clear overview of what’s most needed at any given time.

Visiting the warehouse

In addition to the feedback we receive, we also visit customers every week. We spend a few hours observing things where it really matters: inside the warehouse. The insights we gain there are incredibly valuable to us.

By watching real workflows, we often spot opportunities for improvement that customers don’t even realize are technically possible. That lets us surprise them with improvements they hadn’t thought of yet.

We also notice small inefficiencies that users don’t even mention, but fixing those small things makes the software feel truly smooth.

Making decisions

Of course, we’d love to implement every suggestion right away—but there are only 24 hours in a day. So we have to make choices about which improvements to tackle first. Every two weeks, our team meets to go over the list of possible improvements and decide what we’ll work on next. That list includes both customer suggestions and our own ideas and observations.

During the following two weeks, we implement the chosen improvements. After thorough testing, we release the new version to the cloud. The updates are immediately available to all our customers.

Continuous improvement

After release, we see how the improvements work in real warehouses and gather more feedback by phone and email. Then we use that input to plan our next round of updates.

This is how we keep continuously improving Picqer.
