Inventory management software without a manual

Yesterday we visited the Logistica and ICT & Logistiek trade shows at the Jaarbeurs. While we were full of admiration for the warehouse robots, we remained baffled by the WMS software on display. The efficiency achieved through sleek robotics seems to be lost again due to overly complex inventory management applications.

Efficient robots

Most of the Logistica trade show focuses on ease and efficiency. If a robot can save just a few seconds per order, it pays for itself quickly. But it has to be simple and work in real-world situations. Everyone should be able to understand it, with little to no explanation. Many products succeed in this. For example, simple LED lights on your warehouse shelves that instantly show which bin to pick from. Intuitive and time-saving.

We also saw some impressive transport planning software—simple to use and often usable without a manual. Drop your orders into Excel, and out comes an efficient delivery plan for your trucks.

Clunky inventory software

Compared to the clever solutions on display at Logistica, the inventory software presented at ICT & Logistiek was shocking. Interfaces were terribly outdated (why does everyone copy the Outlook 97 look?) and require extensive training before you can even pick your first order. Apparently, the number of features is more important than how the software actually works. But the real efficiency gains come from intuitive software. Especially software used for inventory, orders, and picking—tools you work with all day long.

Picqer fills the gap

Our visit to the ICT & Logistiek trade show confirmed once again that Picqer is building something truly different. For us, usability is everything. We focus on how the software works and how enjoyable it is to use.

And best of all, you can try Picqer yourself. No expensive consultants needed—just experience for yourself how good software can help your business.
