How we prepare for Black Friday

Every year we share what you can do to prepare your warehouse for Black Friday as well as possible. Now we would like to show you our side of things. Because how do we actually get ready for this period?

We asked Casper, our co-founder, and Kas from the support team how they approach and experience this time of year. Watch the video or continue reading below!

Making sure the system can handle it

Our biggest priority is making sure your warehouse keeps running. We work hard on that all year round. But on a day like Black Friday, we see two to three times more orders than on a normal day. And the system needs to handle that.

Good preparation is extremely important. After the summer period, we take a few weeks to thoroughly review Picqer’s performance. The most important thing is to keep the servers and the system as lightly loaded as possible so they can handle the Black Friday volumes. We also make sure not to release any major changes that you might need to get used to.

We always ask ourselves the same question: if something were to go wrong on Black Friday, what would it be? And how can we already improve that during our preparations?

Being fully switched on, on the day itself

On the day itself, everyone is fully switched on. The product team closely monitors the system and the incoming volumes. Anything that looks even slightly unusual is immediately investigated to make sure nothing happens that might affect you.

The support team is ready to help you quickly with any questions. Even if the issue is outside of Picqer, for example with your carrier or webshop, we are happy to think along with you. We want you to keep moving. And if a technical fix is needed on our side, the product team is on standby to solve it quickly and properly.

Our ideal Black Friday? A boring day. Because that means everything is going well for you.

Doing our part in the logistics chain

Black Friday and the surrounding period are the ultimate stress test to see whether all systems can handle the pressure. Not just ours but all the tools you use in your warehouse. It gives us a lot of satisfaction to play our part in the logistics chain. Because everything needs to fall into place during such an important time in e-commerce.

You’ve got this!

On behalf of the entire Picqer team, we wish you the best of luck in this final stretch of the year. You’ve got this with processing all those orders, and we hope you make something great out of it together!
