Importing compositions

You can add or edit multiple compositions at once using the 'Import Compositions' feature. This can be done via 'Products' > 'Import Compositions'.

Settings

To import compositions, choose an Excel file and specify the type of composition you want to import. These can be virtual compositions or compositions with their own stock. Fulfilment customers can optionally select the fulfilment customer.

Excel File

In the Excel file, you specify the productcode for the composition, the productcode for each part, and the quantity for each on a per-line basis. This allows you to modify an existing composition, create a new one, or remove parts.

Creating Compositions

To create a composition, the product must already exist and be active in Picqer. We can only create the composition if we are able to modify the product type. To do this, the product must meet certain conditions:

  • The product must not be in backorder
  • The product must not be included in a purchase order that is in 'concept' or already ordered
  • The product must not be on an open or snoozed picklist
  • The product must not be involved in open transfers
  • The product must not have reservations

There are also some conditions for the parts:

  • The product must exist
  • The product must be active
  • The quantity must not be negative

Example Excel

If we want to create a composition for the product with productcode AB1950, which has two parts (CD3948 and HI9483), the Excel import would look like this:

Productcode composition Productcode parts Quantity in composition
AB1950 CD3948 2
AB1950 HI9483 1

Modifying Compositions

It is possible to change the number of parts and add new parts via the Excel import. However, be aware of the following for existing compositions:

  • Existing parts that are not included in the Excel file will be removed from the composition.

Removing parts from a composition

You can remove parts from a composition by either omitting the component from the Excel file or setting its quantity to 0.

For example, if we have a composition with two parts (CD3948 and HI9483) and we want to remove one (HI9483), the Excel file would look like this:

Productcode composition Productcode parts Quantity in composition
AB1950 CD3948 2
