Stock synchronization during a flash sale

A flash sale is a discount or promotion in your store that only runs for a short period. During that period you often get far more orders than you're used to. Sometimes the number of orders is so high that stock synchronization between your store and Picqer no longer keeps up. That can lead to awkward situations, such as selling stock that isn't available anymore. Here's how to prevent that.

Good to know: the tips in this article apply if the products in your flash sale store aren't also sold through another store connected to Picqer. Do you sell those products across several connected stores? Get in touch with our support team, we're happy to think along.

Send stock changes to the store

If you've connected your store to Picqer, you probably have the store setting 'Send stock changes to the store' set to 'Yes'. That setting makes Picqer synchronize stock with your store in real time.

During a flash sale we recommend setting it to 'No'. Picqer then stops sending stock changes to your store, so your store keeps track of stock on its own for the time being.

Once the flash sale is over, set it back to 'Yes'. Picqer then sends your stock to your store automatically that night. Can't wait for that? Send the stock straight away: go to your store settings and click 'Push stock' under 'Actions'.

Reserve stock

If it matters to you that you never sell more products than you have on hand, it helps to keep some reserve stock. You put part of your stock in a separate (fictional) warehouse in Picqer. In your store settings you then make sure the stock in that warehouse isn't counted towards your stock levels.
