Packing Slip Example
When shipping a package, it's important to include a packing slip. On this page, you'll find not only a packing slip example, but also all the information about what a packing slip is.
What is a packing slip?
A packing slip is a description of the contents of a package and contains all the important information for the customer. This includes the type of product, the quantity, and information about the supplier.
A packing slip is important because it shows what was ordered, allowing the customer to verify whether everything has been received.
What should you include on a packing slip?
There are no mandatory requirements for what must be on a packing slip. However, this doesn't mean you should include as little information as possible. You want to communicate well with your customer.
Therefore, always include the following on your packing slip:
- Seller's details
- Shipping date
- Which products are in the package
- The quantity of each product in the package
Additionally, you can also include the following information on the packing slip:
- Customer's details
- Product prices
- Product numbers
- Seller's payment details
- And optionally, which products are still to be delivered

What's the difference between a pick list and a packing slip?
Pick lists are often confused with packing slips. However, there is a difference. A pick list is used internally to collect all products for an order. A packing slip is a document you send to the customer to indicate what's in the package.
