PrintNode as a Windows service

During the PrintNode installation on Windows, you can tick 'Install as a Service'. We recommend leaving it off and installing PrintNode without the service, as described in Installing PrintNode. If you do want to run PrintNode as a Windows service for specific reasons, set the service account correctly first.

Changing the service account

By default, the service runs under the 'LocalSystem' account. PrintNode uses the default printer settings of the Windows account the service runs under. Under 'LocalSystem' those settings are hard to change, which leads to formatting problems when printing. Run the service under a dedicated Windows user account instead. That account lets you manage the printer settings, such as the size and orientation of your labels.
