Getting Started with a Barcode Scanner

Using a barcode scanner in your warehouse is usually very simple:

To work with the barcode scanner, barcodes must be linked to your products in Picqer. Most online shops already use barcodes. When you import the products from your webshop into Picqer, Picqer automatically imports the barcodes. You can start using the barcode scanner right away.

If you are not yet using barcodes, you will need to link them to your products in Picqer to work with the barcode scanner. You can do this in the following ways:

  • Webshop import
In most cases, Picqer can import barcodes from the webshop
  • Excel import
You can import product information, including barcodes, via a product import
  • Via the API
  • Fully manual
In Picqer, you can manually add the barcode for each product

What Does a Barcode Scanner Do?

A scan with a barcode scanner is nothing more than a quick keyboard entry where the barcode is entered. This is followed by an enter, which Picqer uses to recognize that the scan is complete.

Sometimes your barcode scanner may not automatically type the enter after entering the barcode. The barcode is entered, but Picqer does not recognize that the scan is complete. Check your barcode scanner's manual to set this up correctly. For the commonly used barcode scanners, we have explained it here:
