Adding products to an order that is already being processed

Sometimes you need to add products to an order that is already being processed, for example because a customer wants an extra product or wants to swap one. You do that from the order itself.

Adding products

You can add products to an order with the status processing or paused. To read what those statuses mean, see how orders work in Picqer. You need the right to edit orders.

  1. Open the order.
  2. Click 'More' in the top right and choose 'Add products'.
  3. Search for the products you want to add and enter the amount for each one.
  4. Click 'Add products'.

Picklist or backorder

After you add them, Picqer looks for a place for the products itself:

  • On an existing picklist. This works as long as that picklist is paused or has not been started. A picklist counts as started once it is in a batch, assigned to someone, linked to a picking container, or has amounts picked on it.
  • On a new picklist. If there is no picklist to add to and the products are in stock, we create a new picklist. We only do this when no other backorders are waiting on the order, because we would rather process those in one go.
  • As a backorder. Anything we cannot place on a picklist stays on the order as a backorder.

When the products land on an existing picklist, we run the picklist rules again. The log at the bottom of the order and the picklist shows which products were added.

In the fulfilment portal

Fulfilment customers can add products the same way in their own portal. The difference: the portal never creates a new picklist. So adding products only works there when the order has a paused or unstarted picklist, or still has backorders.
